CHOREA

Chorea - a hyperkinesia, described the scattered chaotic twitchings of muscles of extremities (especially top), trunks and faces. Patients are fussy, restless, constantly grimace, often hurt about surrounding subjects, hardly and not for long keep the set pose of Twitching interrupt any movements, giving to them non-coordination; a dancing gait is typical. Owing to oral hyperkinesias there is a dysarthtia, in serious cases of patients cannot speak at all. The greatest value in development of chorea has a lesion of striatal structures and a cerebellum.

The hysterical chorea should be differentiated from habit spasms to which stereotype and localness is usually inherent. Arising also at children and shown a combination of choreiform hyperkinesias to violent vocalization. Patients publish grunting, barking and cooing sounds which eventually pass in repetition of obscene words (eschrolalia).

Chorea of pregnant women - the variant of a hysterical chorea arising in the first months of pregnancy at young women. As a rule, in the anamnesis there is an indicating on a chorea transferred in the childhood.
