Diencephalic (subthalamic) syndrome - the complex of frustration arising at a lesion of subthalamic area of an interstitial brain.
It is shown by the vegetative, endocrine, metabolic and trophic frustration most precisely expressed in the form of symptom-complexes not of a diabetes mellitis, inadequate secretion of an antidiuretic hormone, a cachexia, an adiposagenital syndrome and a lactorrhea - amenorrheas. It is necessary to specify the unjustified tendency to hyperdiagnostics of a diencephalic syndrome: overwhelming number of patients with the similar diagnosis actually suffer depression or a neurosis with the expressed vegetative frustration. Among the last to a thicket of others there are so-called panic attacks: suddenly arising palpitation, a cold fit, sometimes disturbance of respiration, paroxysms are accompanied by feeling of pavor of mors and usually come to the end with a plentiful emiction, sometimes diarrhea.
