Exophthalmos - movement of an eyeglobe forward.
Etiology, pathogenesis: augmentation of volume of tissues of an orbit, first of all in retrobulbar space, owing to various inflammatory, traumatic and tumoral, local and general processes (lymphadenoses, pathological processes inside of a skull, etc.).
Signs. The laterposition of an eyeglobe limiting mobility of an eye and causing a diplopia is frequent. The hyperemia of blepharons, their edema, a chemosis, change of an eyeground (a neuritis, a congestive disk and an atrophy of an optic nerve, an edema and retinal apoplexies, etc.), visual acuities leading dropping are possible. For recognition of various kinds of an exophthalmos use laboratory and radiological methods of research, isotope and ultrasonic diagnostics.
