Gee's disease - rare disease of the intestine, described an atrophy of a mucosa of a small bowel in reply to introduction of the polypeptide containing in some cereals (wheat, a rye, barley, an oats).
Etiology, pathogenesis. Absence (or a relative failure) developments of this peptidase is especially shown at disturbances of a delivery, prevalence in nutrition of the cereals containing a polypeptide, at intestinal infections, during pregnancy. Products of incomplete digestion of a polypeptide (a gliadine, etc.) act on an intestinal wall and stimulate development of autoimmune reactions, causing an atrophy of a mucosa of a small bowel and development of a sprue.
Signs, current. In overwhelming majority of cases the first signs appear in the childhood. It is characteristic frequent (up to 10 times a day) a feces in the form of a meal with a grayish shade after the use in nutrition of the products made of wheat, a rye and barley, augmentation of a stomach due to depression of a tonus of an intestine, depression of mass of a body. In the started cases the chronic enteritis with a syndrome of a failure of an absorption, protein-free edemas, an osteoporosis, an iron deficiency anemia, polyhypovitaminoses, disturbances of electrolytic balance develops, etc. development of a dysbacteriosis is possible. At children at absence of treatment the delay of psychomotor development is observed.
