Glossitis - a catarral or purulent inflammation of tissues of tongue. This term designate also symptomatic (a pernicious anemia, avitaminoses, some dermatoses, acute infections) changes of tongue and anomaly of a structure (rhomboidal, plaited tongue, etc.).

Etiology. Local irritating factors, a nyxis an ossicle, a sting and other traumas.

Signs, current. At a catarral glossitis feeling of a burning sensation in tongue, a pain at hit of a spicy food. Tongue is swelled, papillas of tongue are kept. At an abscess of tongue the accrueing pain amplifying from a touch; speech is muffled, a hypersalivation, tongue is enlarged non-uniformly, borders of a tumescence indistinct, development slow. At a phlegmon of tongue - a pain, disturbance of a swallowing, speech, respiration, a hypersalivation. An edema of a bottom of an oral cavity and a neck, an intoxication, body temperatures. The abscess and a phlegmon demand surgical treatment.

The forecast: the catarral glossitis passes for some days; at purulent - radical opening and an active antibioticotherapia predetermine a favorable outcome.
