Insult spinal - acute disturbance of a circulation in a spinal cord.
Etiology, pathogenesis. As a rule, infarcts of a spinal cord are observed; hemorrhages (hematomyelia) are very rare. The reason of an insult can be an occlusion of spinal vessels from which radicular medullary arteries originate, or a direct injury of medullary vessels, however their atherosclerosis even at elderly patients is observed is not more white than in 3 % of cases. Disturbance of a blood flow is frequent is bound to a pathology of an aorta (an atherosclerotic stenosis, an aneurysm, a coarctation). Other reasons: a myocardial infarction with falling systemic arterial pressure, a prelum of radicular medullary arteries because of an osteochondrosis, tumours of a backbone and a spinal cord.
Signs, current. To development of an insult quite often precede a dorsodynia after which there is a flaccid paralysis and disturbance of superficial sensitivity below a level of a lesion, and also frustration in a basin. In case of an ischemia in the field of interfacing blood supply of forward and back spinal arteries the clinical picture reminds a lateral amyotrophic sclerosis. The arisen disturbances can quickly regress, but quite often there is a proof spinal defect.
