Mastoiditis acute - an acute inflammation of tissues of a mastoid; is more often complication of an acute purulent inflammation of a middle ear (a secondary mastoiditis). The primary mastoiditis develops as independent disease as a result of a trauma or at a sepsis. The subperiosteal abscess or pus is formed gets into a cavity of a skull and causes intracranial complications.
Signs, current. A pain, a swelling and a hyperemia of external integuments of area of a mastoid, a flow of pus from an ear. At an otoscopy external acoustical passage is narrowed due to a ptosis of its posterosuperior wall. The headache, a sleeplessness, loss of appetite are marked. The temperature raises up to 38,5 degrees, but quite often remains subfebrile. The mastoiditis can develop within the several days, sometimes several weeks, months.
