Myelipathy - modular concept for a designation of various chronic lesions of a spinal cord owing to the pathological processes localized mainly outside of it.
Etiology: a cervical osteochondrosis, an atherosclerosis, a congenital stenosis of the channel of a backbone, radial therapy, an alcoholism, intoxications.
Pathogenesis: degenerate changes, a mechanical compression; quite often combination of several factors.
Signs, current. More often than others the cervical department of a spinal cord is amazed. Owing to a hypersensibility to an ischemia of impellent structures the myelipathy at a cervical osteochondrosis and an atherosclerosis sometimes proceeds with a picture rather reminding a lateral amyotrophic sclerosis. As a whole the symptomatology is defined by a level of a lesion and the spinal structures involved in process. For the majority of myelipathies progreduated current is characteristic.
