Myelitis - the inflammation of a spinal cord usually grasping white and grey substance; at a cross-section myelitis the lesion is limited by several segments.
Etiology, pathogenesis. Neurotropic viruses or allergic reactions at bacterinations or demyelinating processes, less often pyogenic flora at wounds of a backbone or the general infections (a meningococcal sepsis, etc.). In the field of a lesion, it is usual in the bottom thoracal department, the edema, a hyperemia, set of the thrombosed vessels with perivascular inflammatory focuses are observed.
Signs, current. The beginning acute or subacute, is often accompanied by rise in temperature. There is a megalgia at a level of a lesion after which the paralysis of underlaying departments of a trunk and extremities develops. From a level of a lesion full or partial loss of sensitivity is marked. Frustration of function of organs in the field of a basin is observed.
