Ozena (evil-smelling rhinitis) - chronic disease of a nasal cavity with a sharp atrophy of the mucosa, shrinking in evil-smelling crusts, a thinning of an osteal tissue of conchas and walls of a nose. Meets in 2-3 times more often at faces of a female and sometimes it is observed simultaneously at several members of family. Begins in the age of 8-16 years, sometimes later.
Signs, current. Develops slowly, sometimes with transition of atrophic process to a mucosa of pharynx, larynxes, and sometimes tracheas and bronchuses. Patients complain of the complicated nasal respiration, excruciating dryness and an itch in a nose, sharp weakening or full absence of an olfaction. To a smell from a nose pay attention surrounding (patients do not feel it). Patients are often suppressed; the unpleasant smell from a nose forces them to avoid dialogue with people.
