SYMPATHETIC OPHTHALMIA

Sympathetic ophthalmia (sympathetic inflammation) - the disease of the second eye arising owing to a chronic traumatic iridocyclitis of the first eye. An etiology: getting wound of other eye, become complicated a flaccid iridocyclitis, less often a surgical intervention on an eyeglobe or a perforated helcoma.

Pathogenesis: the basic role in an inflammation of the second eye allocate to autoimmune reactions and action of antigens of tissues of the damaged eye. Signs arise in various terms - from 12-14 days about several months and even years after a trauma of the first eye. The erased form of disease has character of a serous iridocyclitis and is taped only at a biomicroscopy in the form of an edema of an endothelium of a cornea and individual precipitates on, its back surface. At the expressed serous or serofibrinous iridocyclitis there is a dacryagogue, a photophobia, a nictitating spasm, the admixed injection of an eyeglobe, the albesent or painted precipitates on a back surface of a cornea, an edema and a hyperemia of an iris, individual pigmental adjournment on a forward capsule of a lens, a synechia, an opacity of the vitreous body.
